Matthew Dellavedova and his Australian teammates have arrived in Rio hoping to break the nation’s men’s basketball Olympic medal drought.
Dellavedova, Maryborough’s first and only ever Olympian has been staunch in his goal to compliment his recently attained NBA championship with an Olympic gold medal.
“The aim is to win a gold medal for Australia, that’s always been the main goal,” Dellavedova said.

The Boomers haven’t had ideal preparation going into the games, with Dellavedova forced to sit out a warmup game back in July after a delay in insurance papers from the Milwaukee Bucks meant he was unavailable to take to the court.
