On the hop

Navarre’s premiership defence season has started in ominous fashion with the Grasshoppers defeating Lexton by 37 points in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s traditional round one grand final rematch.

In a closer contest than the 100 point annihilation that ended the 2013 season, the match at Navarre was a tough contest with both teams attacking the ball and the man ferociously.

With Navarre riding high on the opportunity to unfurl both senior football and A grade netball premier- ship flags before the commencement of play, the Grasshoppers were quick out of the blocks when the ball was bounced to start their premiership defence and just a minute into the game coach Daniel Parkin goaled from inside the goal square.
