A Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition Government will reopen Talbot railway station to trains by 2013.
As part of the $17.7 million rail plan for the Ballarat and Maryborough lines, the station will be open to V/Line trains and an initially free bus service between Lexton and Talbot will be introduced to connect with trains.
Ripon Liberal candidate, Vic Dunn and Nationals candidate, Wendy McIvor both welcomed this week’s announcement.
Mr Dunn said that the Coalition would extend Talbot Railway Station’s platform to 160 metres and construct a minimum 20 bay car-park.
“We will also commence a daily Lexton-Talbot-Lexton minibus service in 2013, connecting with Maryborough line trains once Talbot station has been reopened,” Mr Dunn said.
