The Central Goldfields Shire won more than $600,000 dollars in State Government grants last week, including a $593,245 boost for the Community Hub project.
The funds came as part of the visit by Minister for Community Development, Lily D’Ambrosio, who was full of praise for the local community.
“Strong families need strong communities, which is why the Brumby Government is investing in the future of Maryborough,” Ms D’Ambrosio said.
According to Central Goldfields Shire’s general manager of corporate and community services, Wayne Belcher, the $593,245 worth of funding for the community hub will see the second storey of the Community Hub stripped and redeveloped.
“The former science rooms will be turned into seven meeting rooms,” Mr Belcher said.
“That will include a small kitchen, toilets and a lift,” he said.
