Maryborough and district water users will benefit from more than $900,000 in funding for raw water leak reduction, main water renewal and pressure reduction program.

It is expected that the combination of the components of the program will result in an estimated saving of 130ML of water per year.

Federal Member for Bendigo, Steve Gibbons said Central Highlands Water will get $938,000 of funding under the Strengthening Basin Communities program.

The money will be allocated to maintenance works that will greatly benefit the Maryborough and district water supply now and into the future.

The funding will assist with the mains replacement program currently being undertaken, resulting in a reduction of bursts, and allowing for future expansion and growth of the system.
