The 2010 Vision Super Central Goldfields Reverse Triathlon attracted its highest profile field of elite triathletes on Sunday at the Maryborough Olympic Pool.
A bumper field of 125 triathletes completed the Princes Park course in excellent competition conditions, which made for some exceptional times being posted.
In the open men’s long course, the competition was enthralling right from the first lap of the 1.3 kilometre run course.
A group of five triathletes jostled for positions throughout, with positions changing frequently throughout the 3.9 kilometre run.
It was however, world champion duathlete, Leon Griffin, who led the field into transition for the first time with the 2009 Australian Junior Male Triathlete of the Year Jamie Huggett, Australian triathlete Gareth Halverson and three time winner and 2009 course record holder David Meade in close pursuit.
