WORLD CHAMPION AARON WINS AT NEW YEAR

After taking part in the Scottish Highland Games on New Year’s Day – 22 lb granite stone Braemer style, 26 lb shot put, caber tossing, 56 and 28 lb weight for distance – strongman, Aaron Neighbour led the field of competitors by one point.

Thirty-two-year-old Aaron won the final event of the day, the challenging Atlas five stones of strength, to successfully defend his 2009 Strongman title gained at last year’s event.

Aaron is the 2009 Scottish Highland Games Association world heavy events champion, having contested the title on July 18 at Balloch, Scotland.
