The Maryborough Supa IGA Blazers started 2010 off in style with a convincing 26 point win against the Wangaratta Warriors on Saturday night.
In extremely hot conditions the Supa IGA Blazers jumped the Warriors in the first quarter and built a big lead, which they then held onto for the rest of the game.
Big man Jason Stewart was causing problems and scored nine Blazer points in a row early in the quarter, with Matt Johnston finishing the quarter off with three three-pointers in a row.
Wangaratta could not contain the offensive threats as Maryborough opened up a 36-12 quarter time lead.
The Warriors fought back well during the second and third quarters but were unable to capitalise on their good play.
