A HOT NIGHT

Maryborough residents could have been forgiven for waking up hot and weary on Tuesday morning as the city recorded its highest overnight temperature on record.

On Monday night the temperature failed to fall below 28.9¡, several degrees warmer than the previous record of 26.4¡ set on January 1, 1997.

The long term overnight average for the month of January is 12.8¡.

The hot night concluded three days in a row where the mercury reached more than 40¡, peaking at 42.8¡ on Monday afternoon.
