Take-pART Arts Alliance has been granted $5000 from the Federal Governments Regional Arts Fund to tell the story of the social dances at the Tren du Bourg (Workers) Hall.
The grant will also include a celebration of that history with a new piece of music and a film of the hall’s dance history and couples who met there.
The project is titled “We met at a Dance at the Workers Hall” and is one of only eight community arts projects granted through Regional Arts Victoria for 2010.
The project is a collaboration between musicians, singers, dancers, a film-maker, an historian, The Maryborough Advertiser and the new owners of the Tren DuBourg Hall.
