Former Maryborough hockey player, Lachie Cameron, will represent the under 21 Australian Country team in the Oceania Pacific Hockey Cup in Fiji later this week.
This is an open competition with teams from New Zealand, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the Australian Country under 21 side.
Lachie is captain of Strathdale in the strong Bendigo men’s competition.
He is also a member of the Central Victorian team which plays in State League Four.
Lachie started playing hockey in the Maryborough association as a youngster and has represented Victoria on numerous occasions and this is the second time he will represent Australian Country.
The under 21 Australian team has three players from Victoria and other representatives from New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland.
Lachie plays midfield or forward and did score a goal in the cup competition last season against New Zealand.
The talented 20-year-old said yesterday that he was really looking forward to the competition.
Lachie is the son of Peter and Kerry Cameron of Peel Street.
