It is round five of the Maryborough and District Cricket A grade competition tomorrow and it is also the fifth one day game of the season.

A number of two day games will be contested after this weekend’s matches.

MKM is home to Colts Phelans in what is expected to be a tight tussle and the result could go either way.

Colts has just one victory from four games while the Mill suffered its first defeat last weekend against Clunes.

MKM was missing a couple of key players in that clash and will be back to full strength tomorrow.

The batsmen of Colts couldn’t chase down 127 runs last game against Laanecoorie Dunolly and will need to improve if the side is to account for MKM at the Ron Sinclair Oval.

Carisbrook hosts Laanecoorie Dunolly in another match that is a toss up.

Without appearing to do anything too special, the ‘Brook has started the season in terrific touch and has won three of its four matches.

In these one day games it really comes down to the team that can get the runs on the board.

Carisbrook has spread this around thus far with a number of players making at least one good contribution.

Laanecoorie Dunolly has two wins from four outings and last week it was Nick Earl who stood tall with the willow.

This should be a tight encounter and although it is being played at Carisbrook, the visitors may get up narrowly.

St Arnaud is home to Clunes and this is an opportunity for the host club to win its second game of the season.

St Arnaud will be looking to champion allrounder Bruce Hando to put his best foot forward with both bat and ball.

Hando is carrying an injury and has struggled to date.

Clunes knocked over MKM last Saturday and will be keen to get a crack at St Arnaud.

In A reserve, Colts Phelans is home to MKM, Laanecoorie Dunolly host Carisbrook, Maryborough plays Beaufort at Princes Park and St Arnaud has the bye.

There has been a change of venue in B grade with the Carisbrook and Clunes match being played at Clunes. In the other game in this grade, Colts Phelans meet Beaufort while MKM has the bye.

It will be the start of round three two day matches in the under 16s with Maryborough playing Colts Phelans, MKM home to Avoca and Laanecoorie Dunolly hosting Carisbrook.
