IN DEMAND
By Eve Lamb • Jul 30th, 2010 • Category: Top StoryMaryborough rental prices have increased due to rising demand over the past 18 months, agents say.
Agents say the average rental price for residential properties in the city has risen from around $150 to around $180 a week in the past 18 months.
Maryborough First National Real Estate manager, Craig Bell said that while prices were holding firm, demand for residential properties to purchase was also strong in Maryborough.
“We are short of listings and I think all agents in Maryborough would say the same thing,” Mr Bell said.
“We are short in supply and strong in demand and it’s the same with rentals.
“We have had an increase in buyer inquiries over the past 12 months.
“There is strong upward pressure on prices there is no question about that.
“We are also seeing an increase in rental returns of probably 15 percent over the last 12 months.
“Twelve months ago the average rental prices were probably $140 to $150 and they would now be $170 to $180,” Mr Bell said.
