MAGPIES GET THE POINTS
By Graeme Grant • Jun 22nd, 2010 • Category: FootballMaryborough did enough to get the points against cellar side of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League, Castlemaine, on Saturday at the Camp Reserve.
In a game that wouldn’t win any prizes for pretty football, both Maryborough and Castlemaine went into the contest with massive injury worries.
While the ’Maine had arguably its best four players out, Maryborough was short of run with speedsters Jayden Hind, Matt Bilton and Luke Bucknall all missing along with Jamie Bond, Chris Thomson, Darcy Richards and Nathan Wright.
It was a match of errors early as both teams had trouble finding teammates and turnovers were the norm.
It took until halfway through the first quarter before a goal was kicked and this came from the boot of Cam Rinaldi who received from the busy Matt Johnston.
