PLAYING FOR PRIDE

The Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League will be aspiring to reverse the result of last season when it clashes with the Lexton Plains Football Netball League at Princes Park on Saturday.

The MCDFNL was soundly defeated in atrocious conditions at the Eastern Oval in Ballarat in 2009 but senior coach, Geoff Dixon, is looking forward rather than back and is very happy with the chosen team.

“We have a number of players who can adapt to different roles if need be and I am very happy with the mixture of youth and experience that has been selected and it is also very exciting to hear the enthusiasm in the voices of the younger players when told of their selection,” he said.

Dixon is a dual premiership coach with Carisbrook and he has a very experienced coaching panel in support which includes Carisbrook coach, Craig Mortlock, Maryborough Rovers coach, Jamie Elliott and reigning premiership coach of Newstead, Rick Taylor.
