Two outstanding youths were awarded joint Central Goldfields Shire Young Citizen of the Year honours on Australia Day.
Bradley McLeod and Michael Fitzgibbon were both recognised for their hard work and contribution to the community.
Twenty-five-year-old Bradley arrived in Maryborough in 2007 to take his first teaching position following graduating from university.
In his capacity as a music, drama and media teacher at Maryborough Education Centre he has formed positive relationships with students of all ages and has been instrumental in facilitating a heightened profile of the performing arts both within the centre and the community.

His high level of professionalism and his contribution to the school and students have seen him promoted to a position of leading teacher this year. Brad is a part of Sleeping Stars Productions which gives young people in the community the chance to be part of a theatre performance. He is also involved in other community arts events, and has been an active member of Take-pART arts alliance and the arts advisory committee.

Colts Phelans missed out on outright points against St Arnaud on Saturday in A grade of the Maryborough and District Cricket Association.
The previous week, St Arnaud had been dismissed for 137 and Colts Phelans resumed on Saturday at 3/136.
Avoca Red maintained its fourth spot on the Midlands Bowls Association division one ladder with a tight four shot victory over Golf Blue on Saturday.
The Avoca Red side of Terry Howell, Jon Howell, Vic Hennessy and Gary Wallis (skip) carried the day with a solid 28-13 advantage over their Golf Blue opponents.
The Maryborough Supa IGA Blazers made it two victories from two outings on the road, facing off against Swan Hill and Deniliquin in last weekend’s action of the Country Basketball League - North East Conference.
Competition resumed in the Maryborough and District Cricket Association on Saturday with Clunes, Maryborough and Colts Phelans all in winning positions in A grade.
At Hedges Oval, St Arnaud batted first against Colts Phelans.
