Close contests expected

The Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League first and second semi finals take place this weekend, with the second semi final at Dunolly on Saturday between Maldon and Avoca, and the first semi final at Avoca on Sunday between Rovers and Carisbrook.

After 43 years of work, Graeme says goodbye to the Addy

Graeme “Golly” Grant retired today after working on The Maryborough District Advertiser for the past 30 years.

Graeme, or Golly as he likes to be called, started his working life 43 years ago at Hedges & Bell as an apprentice hand and machine compositor.



Bill bags a hole-in-one on the 18th

Some golfers play their entire lives and never get a hole-in-one.

For Maryborough golfer, Bill Bartlett, it seems it’s as easy as one, two, three.

Bill, who’s been playing the Maryborough Golf Course since the 1960s, landed his third hole-in-one during the club’s Tuesday’s stableford competition earlier this week, which was his second ace in competition play.

Carisbrook has ended Campbells Creek’s hopes of a finals berth in the Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League after the Redbacks defeated the Magpies by 59 points at Carisbrook on Saturday.



Scorpions the team to beat in pennant squash
