The 2010 Vision Super Central Goldfields Reverse Triathlon attracted its highest profile field of elite triathletes on Sunday at the Maryborough Olympic Pool.

A bumper field of 125 triathletes completed the Princes Park course in excellent competition conditions, which made for some exceptional times being posted.

Mornington sprinter Matt Carter ran his way into the history books on New Year’s Day, becoming the 116th winner of the Maryborough Gift.

The Maryborough Highland Gathering’s athletic events have attracted record numbers this year, with almost 700 athletes registering for 14 events.

Six hundred and ninety-one runners will take to the track on Maryborough’s Princes Park on Friday across a range of distances.

The popularity and significance of the Maryborough Highland Gathering has again been confirmed with a massive record entry of athletes nominating for events to be conducted at Princes Park for the 149th Gathering on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2010.
