The Carisbrook Lions have stormed to their first ever win in the AFL Goldfields Women’s Football League division two, remarkably holding opponent Redan Gold scoreless, to run out victors by a massive 121-point margin.
The tone was set right from the opening bounce as the Lions completely dominated play to manage 10 scoring shots to zero in the opening term to take a 30-point lead into quarter time.
Carisbrook’s dominance continued into the second term, however inaccurate kicking cost the home side an even bigger lead than the
7.11 (53) to 0.0 (0) scoreline it took into halftime.
Despite some troubles in front of goals, nothing could stop the Lions and when the side finally found its range in front of goals during the third term, a 100-point margin was in the offing.
With an 86-point lead going into the final term, the Lions raced past the 100-point barrier to record a 17.19.121 to 0.0 (0) victory and collect their first four points under the Carisbrook banner.
